Friends&Gifts

This afternoon a friend came over to play with the girls while his mom was busy. They. had. a ball.
Halle had the best time playing Momma to the "babies"- and they LET her! Feeding "Baby Cate" her "curds and whey":Then Halle bossed the little ones into putting her to bed. They took turns reading to her and kissing her goodnight:We spent some time with the paints this afternoon too.
Q-tip painting:
(Q-tips + baby wipes = EASY painting!)Halle was the 'big girl' so she got the brush:They also dragged out every dress up we own.

WARNING: I'm about to show some gifts I made today- Molly H. and Brittney C. don't go any further until after tomorrow night! :)
And if you don't care about sewing, it's about to get boring!
We have a double baby shower tomorrow night for some good friends.
Halle & Cate went with me to pick some good books for the new babies and big brothers and sisters. I then whipped up some book bags and ironed on their names. I'm not super thrilled with how the bags came out. They were quick and easy, but if I was going to make then again I would make a couple of changes.
Friend #1:
Brittney knows that she's having a boy and naming him Jonah, so it was simple to make bags for all of her kids. My favorite one is little Brooklyn's:
The flower was fun to do:
Friend #2:
Molly doesn't know the sex of her baby- so with no gender and no name I decided not to make two book bags. Instead I went with a wet bag (she cloth diapers) and stuffed it with the books:
I didn't have a pattern or tutorial for this- it's my own (super simple) creation. And I'm proud of how it turned out. It's sewn in two layers to prevent wicking, the inner layer is waterproof PUL. I didn't have a zipper so I did a drawstring that will work great and looks really cute (if I do say so myself!)

Whew! It's been a tiring day! :)
