Halle's Logic & Cate's Songs

While the girls ate lunch today I unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher (a sure sign that morning sickness does not last forever!) While she ate, Halle and I had a long conversation about why we have to wash the dishes after we eat off of them. She debated the point that we shouldn't- we will just not use any dishes when they are all used up. (I hated to counter that logic!)
After a while the conversation got O.L.D. -not the funny stuff she came up with, but the same questions over and over and over. She was not satisfied with short answers or detailed ones. Finally I gave the oldest answer in the parenting world: Just Because. Her reaction? "OHHH." Like a light bulb went off at the profoundness of those two words. And then, "Why didn't you say so?"
Man. I do a lot of secret eye rolling around here.
.
In other news- Cate is talking a lot more. We didn't think she would ever even try with Halle "interpreting" for her. She yells things, but at least it's real words and phrases. Her current favorite is, "There you go!" -if she hands you something, or puts something down, or is playing with puzzles.
She is also singing a little bit. She likes "The BIBLE" and "Twinkle Twinkle"- or in her words, "Ginkle, Ginkle Iddle Sar." We know what she means.
She's no where near Halle's vocab at 17 months (Halle sang several songs all the way through and talked in small sentences) but she's holding her own. Go Cate! :)
