goodbye.

I've reached the picture limit at this site. Well, the "free" limit. And after weighing the pros and cons of paying the $5/year to upgrade I've decided to just start a new blog. This one will stay as it is, and I'm sure I'll reference it often, like I always have, but there won't be any new posts.

So come on over! Bookmark the new site! See you there! ;)

a little extra laundry-

Ty stood at my feet while I was doing laundry, pointing at the hamper and saying, "Beeess! Beeess!" (Please, please!)Gross? Yes. That's dirty laundry. But SO worth it to hear that laugh! :)

Gameday in Oxford!

It started in the basketball arena with the FCA speakers (they were good.)A little "human farkle" (-that's what we called it when we used to do camps) or "Gorrilla/Man/Gun":
Then on to the football game! Well. After walking about THREE miles in the hot sun with FOUR bags, ONE (big) baby in a sling, and ONE little girl dragging along beside me. We were all a little hot and crabby at that point:Thank the Lord for the ($4!) snowcone. For real. It saved us all from complete meltdowns. And ESPECIALLY -Thank You, Lord- for the Golf Cart Lady that gave us a ride for the last mile of our walk to the stadium and then gave us her phone number and told us to call when we were ready to leave!! She seriously might have been an angel. The real kind. Waiting for our ride: It was a long, hot, tiring, thirsty, "Where's the Razorbacks?" (Cate), kind of day.

But a good one.

And I remember why I love the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Missisip'

We're headed to Oxford this afternoon for FCA GameDay- Ole Miss is playing Southern Illinois, and we're tagging along with the BMC Basketball team.

When we were talking about it yesterday Halle asked why we're not "Mississip'" fans. I kind of shrugged and told her that I'm a Jayhawk fan and Daddy loves the Razorbacks, but we live in Mississippi now so she could be an Ole Miss fan if she wanted. She decided she was. And she refuses to call them anything but "Mississip'." (I think it's hilarious.)

We'll see how far her dedication to her new team goes when they play the U of A on Oct. 22.

Little Photog

I put new batteries in Halle's camera yesterday. She has been begging me off and on to do it for about a week now. She (and Cate) got it last year for Christmas from GranGran, and they love that thing! I kinda do too, actually.Halle takes pictures of everything and then has to show them to whoever she can corner. That's really the only downside.Things like this:and this:and this:Once in awhile she gets a pretty cute one:(Using her camera:)
I don't mind at all that she likes to be creative. We even snapped each other, snapping each other:

Oh- and here's Ty with the old "Huly-Hoop!" :)

FINALLY.

After being stuck in the air conditioning for weeks, we are loving this nice break in the weather! I wish it would stay between 70 and 75 every day of the year! :) Bike riding lasted for almost an hour:Ty didn't love his helmet:Halle got pretty fancy with her (too small*) bike- riding with no hands, standing on one leg, etc:Of course, whatever LuLu does, so must Bakayla:Ty didn't want much help. And he got mad when he coudn't make the tricycle go by himself:Our other driveway-favorites: chalk, and weed-bouquets! I'm ready for fall. Or at least consistently cooler weather! :)

*Halle has had birthday money set aside for a new bike since June. Because of our many travels and the stupidly hot weather (=no bike riding) we haven't gotten her one yet. Soon!! :)

LuLu and Bakayla-

are the names Halle and Cate have used for one another for the past year.

As in-
Cate: "LuLu, lets go play with the dress ups."

Halle: "No, Bakayla, let's color!"

Cate: "Oh, okay."

(Real conversation Friday morning.)

I think I've mentioned Cate's love of her play name before. If you spend any amount of time around these two you'll hear them refer to each other with these names. We don't know where they came from or why they've stuck around.

The other day I called Cate "Cate" and she huffed at me and said, "Mommy, you can call me Bakayla, or Gretchen or Dorothy. Not Cate." I stared at her. She relented, "Oh, okay. Cate's fine."

So far Ty has escaped being named. (Although, sometimes he's "Big Baby" -Toy Story 3.) Oh well. At least they're not "Belle" anymore or any other princess. :)

To: Grandad

Dear Grandad,
I went by your place a couple of weeks ago. I cried when I saw the rubble pile where the house used to sit. I wish I would've gone by last year when I thought of it. I can remember how your house smelled. I can picture myself in there- I see that little music box house on the TV and Grandma's pile of National Enquirers on the couch (or davenport, if you prefer.) I can picture the porch with the cherry tomatoes in a pot and bees buzzing. It's always hot in my memories at your house.I remember watching you pulling on your coveralls and heading to the chicken house. And I'll never forget how you always had chocolate for us. And how you tried to trip me with your cane every time I visited. I know my memories are all from a child's point of view. But I also know that when I hear your voice in my mind, there are usually a few profanities thrown in.I wouldn't be embarrassed now if you asked me if I was married yet. Of course, 20 years will kind of kill the joke, huh? I wish I knew your stories. I wish I could sit with Grandma and watch her quilt.I wish I could drive up and see two or three windsocks in the tree in front of the house:And I wish I could go back and sit on the porch with my brother and the dog (old Bob) and hear the voices inside (Mom and Dad's were always loud so Grandma could hear them, and Grandma's was always loud and arguing with you.)But I know time moves on, and honestly I'm at a place in life that I wouldn't trade for anything. Life is good, Grandad. And I know now what you meant about the weeds: Time moves quickly. And kids grow up right in front of your eyes. I love you,
Becky
