RockChalk

No pictures here. Sorry. Just a funny story:

Yesterday I was scrubbing the floor in the kitchen- I had just cleaned out the fridge, and dropped a bowl of peas that had been in there for Idon'tevenknowhowlong. Yuck. Needless to say, I wasn't in the greatest of moods. Cate, who hasn't been Miss Cheerful in a couple of weeks (the never-ending-cold) came in, hunkered down in front of my face and started in:

Roooooock Chaaaaaaalk, Jaaaaaayhawk, Kaaaaaaaay-Youuuuuuuu

Can you picture it? I almost cried. Instead I laughed. How is it possible that such a little thing knows me so well?

Maybe it was the Lord reminding me that peas on the floor aren't a big deal. An aching back isn't a big deal. Tiredness- not a big deal. A bad mood- that's kind of a big deal. So He sent my little one with a message that would jolt me out of my stupid funk. And it did. I put away the rag and went to sit on the floor (I told you I was tired, right?) and let the girls put their tea party around me. Instead of thinking about the dryer that had buzzed 20 minutes ago, I just relaxed.

Sometimes all it takes is a little RockChalk.

PS- You KNOW what put me in an even better mood, right?!
Hint: It involved the Jayhawks and some little stripy cats.
