First Monday

This morning we experienced a Ripley tradition that goes back to 1897. And it was certainly an experience. "First Monday Trade Days" is a flea market with vendors selling everything. Tools, antiques, produce, jewelry, clothing- new and used, groceries, toiletries, pot bellied pigs and other farm animals, As-Seen-on-TV stuff... It was crazy. We sort-of fell in love with one of the goats, but didn't think we could quite handle bringing it home. :)
First Monday, circa 1916:
We ended up spending 7 bucks- 2 to park, 3 on snow cones, and the girls each got a dollar (which they spent on colored pencils.) JD and I got a kick out of watching one family chase one of the chickens they had bought- it jumped out of the little red wagon it had been riding in with three other hens and a bag of sweet potatoes.
