This afternoon the girls were playing dress-ups and running through the house loudly. As they ran through the kitchen for the 14th time, I set up a road block and told them to stand there for a second and see how quiet they could be. They did it. Sort-of. So I asked them what they were playing- I expected an answer like, "Chase" or "Princess."
It went like this--
Me: " So what exactly are you guys playing, anyway?"
Halle: (dressed in a red princess dress, holster and rain boots) "We're just playing Big Girls."
Cate: (dressed in a wedding dress, high heels and a surgeon's hat) "NO! GROWN UPS!:
Halle: "Yeah- like grown up big girls- we're playing Forty Six."
Cate: "Forty Six."
Me: "Forty Six- what?"
Halle: "Grown-ups. We're playing Forty Six. We're Forty Six. We're Big Girls now."
Me: "Why Forty Six?"
Halle: "Because when you're Forty Six you're beautiful. And fast."
Me: "Fast?!"
Cate: "Yeah. Running."
Halle: "And beautiful."
Me: "Do you know someone who is Forty Six?"
Halle: "You know."
Me: "I do?"
Halle: "Yeah. Nana. She's Forty Six. And maybe Grammy too."
Me: "You don't think I'm Forty Six?"
Halle: (laughing.) "NOOOO! You're Twenty Eight!"
Me: "So I'm not beautiful? Or fast?"
Halle: (still laughing) "No! You're Twenty Eight!"
Me: "Gee, thanks. Alright- go run away, old ladies!"
And they did.
**Nana and Grammy are not 46. But they are beautiful. And I'm sure they were fast, once upon a time. :)

alI find it somewhat ironic (well, maybe not ironic...yeah, ironic)that this post came out just a day before Mom got snipered playing softball...
Ha Ha! I love that!
She told me that she was headed toward second base and someone in the dugout yelled, "RUN!" -she thought she WAS running, and that's when it happened! Guess she's not really that fast anymore, huh?! :)
(Sorry, Mom...)
Becky, I swear your girls say the cutest and funniest things....
