She is FINE (thank you, Jesus!)
.
I went into her room at about 10:30 because I could hear her calling for me. I found her sitting in bed with sticky hands that smelled strongly of grapes. She had climbed on her dresser and worked open the "childproof" cap to drink an almost new bottle of Tylenol. I didn't panic, even though the bottle mentioned liver failure. Poison Control advised that we take her to the emergency room immediately.
.
We got there at about 11:00 and got in a room right away. They drew blood (NOT FUN) and found that she was above the toxic point (apparently only 10% of the kids' medication cases they see are actually toxic) so they had to run an IV with the antidote medication in it. I did well the entire time we were there, except for a few tears when they put in the IV. They re-drew her blood at 2:30 and found that the IV worked and her toxic level had dropped low enough to send home.
.
Halle cried herself to sleep twice and thankfully slept most of the 5 hours we were there. I dozed off and on and watched Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (wow- I love that movie, but it is SIL-LY). We got home a little after 4:00.
.
LESSONS I LEARNED:
DO NOT leave medicine on the dresser (even at the very back)
DO NOT trust childproof lids
DO NOT drink water while you wait in a hospital (I couldn't bring myself to leave the room to go to the bathroom, and I won't be surprised if I end up with a kidney infection! :)
ALWAYS grab lovey items before you leave the house (luckily I had one of Cate's paci's in my bag and Halle wasn't too picky. We could've used Bunny Bear, though!)
.
Healthy kids are a BLESSING straight from the hand of God. My heart goes out to those parents who have to see their children stuck in hospital beds on a regular basis.
.
I took some pictures of the ordeal with my phone- hopefully I'll be able to add them to this post later tonight... (they're not pretty- in fact, I'm sure that they're images that will be in my nightmares for quite awhile!)

Oh Becky! Thank the Lord Halle is OK! Hopefully she learned a little lesson too. See you in 18 days! XOXOX
Quite a scare. We are so glad she is okay!
I am so glad that Halle is alright! How terrifying that must have been for you all! Hope to see ya soon.
Poor baby! I'm so glad she's ok. Brooklynn did the same thing last summer with an entire bottle of vitamins. She told me she was eating "candy"--Tylenol is way more scary!
Those pictures make me want to cry! How sad! I'm just glad she's ok.
I don't know how I missed this post...my goodness. Graham came in the other day and asked me if I had heard about this. I'm glad everything is fine.
