Random Things

Friends/Sisters:
--------------------------------------------------------
We have a few favorite toys at our house. At any given moment it is a safe bet that one of the girls is playing with one of these things (and these are in no particular order)-
1- "The Jungle":2- Halle's Computer:
(Halle plays the "game letters" ALL THE TIME. And she is GOOD.)3- One of the play phones:
(Cate says, "HAH?")4- Halle's Tea Set: --------------------------------------------------------
So I'm testing the cloth diaper waters. I bought two different kinds and I've made two different kinds from old t-shirts (talk about CHEAP diapers!) I've been thinking about trying it for awhile, but because JD's grandparents keep us stocked with disposables, the motivation hasn't been very strong! Besides the landfill factor, I've read a lot lately about the chemicals used in disposables and how those chemicals have been linked to hormone issues later in life. I don't know how true it is, but I think it's worth trying cloth just in case. So far they've been easy. I'll let you know in a few more days what I think! :)

This is pretty random, but what's with this girl and the toy box??:Last February:

Go 'Hawks!

Have we changed?! (Okay, I don't mean me...)

**Indiana Results

JD kindly pointed out that I neglected to post the results of our trip to Indiana. Oops. Well, we played Saturday afternoon against CBC (for the 4th time this year) for 7th. It was one great game- we won it in overtime (in which we hit 100% of our shots! wow!)
Praying after the game:Dancing with the guys in the locker room:What a year! We love these guys:

Spring Break Visitors!

Our friends, Mark and Tanzie got to come spend a few days with us this week with their 7 month old daughter, Kyah. It was so nice to spend some lazy days with people we miss!"Uncle Mark" with the little ones:Kyah and Halle: Halle and Cate:

Pray for Mema

JD's grandmother is scheduled for surgery on Friday in Little Rock. She was diagnosed with cancer this week and has opted for surgery instead of radiation and other treatment options. She has battled and beaten a different form in the past.

Please pray for healing. For peace. And against worry.

God is faithful. He will see us all through this situation.

Indiana (3)

Last night before bed:Halle has had a rough week, but she sure looks sweet when she's asleep:
Yesterday we played Asbury College from Lexington, KY. After being down 10 at halftime, we came back and were up 7 with about 7 minutes to play. We lost the lead (AGAIN) with a few minutes to go, and because of fouls we lost by 5 (AGAIN.) I hate losing. Especially these kinds of games- we're in it at the end, and we COULD beat these teams.
We play CBC (for the 4th time!) today at 2 for 7th place.
This is about the happiest Halle looked yesterday at the gym:
My Aunt and Uncle got to come see us from Louisville, KY last night. It was so great to see them, and after an initial crying spell, Halle calmed down and was Dale's buddy for the night (not sure what that says about her character judgment! j/k)

Indiana (2)

We lost our first round game to Northwestern College out of Minnesota. We were down about 12 at the half and got down by 18 or 20 in the second half. We were able to go on a run and pull within 6 with a few minutes left. Unfortunately, we got in foul trouble (Oscar and Ryan both fouled out) and then we had to play the foul-game at the end and lost by 8. We dug a hole and couldn't get back out of it. Today is another day though! We need to win the next two and we'll go home with 5th.

Baby Maddie

My brother and his wife had their first baby- a sweet little girl- on Wednesday.

Congratulations, Tyler and Steph! I can not wait to meet her!

Indiana (1)

The 8 hour bus trip wasn't too bad. Cate slept most of the way and Halle watched videos with minimal whining. Our hotel is really nice this time (the NCCAA is footing most of the bill!) But today it was a tad on the warm side so the kids ran around shirtless during lunch and before naps.
Cheesy-Halle eating lunch:Cate loved feeling the air in her hair:
We went with the team on their "service project" (visiting a nursing home.) The residents loved seeing the girls, of course, and I heard a lot of "enjoy-it-honey-it-goes-by-so-fast"s. Sobering advice after a morning of tearing out my hair (HALLE.)
Group shot with some of the residents:
The man in the wheelchair on the right is 101 (he swore up and down he was 110!)Display the residents made for the guys:
JD made time to take us to the park this afternoon in hopes that Halle would run her whiny-energy out. I think it helped. Some.
All spiffed up for the formal banquet:

On The Road Again

Our kids do so well when we travel- it is such a blessing to have two VERY flexible children! Here are some pictures of hotel life.
Cate eating breakfast:Halle eating lunch (while Cate naps 3 feet away):
You can barely see her head over the chair :)We were in McPherson, KS for the NCCAA Central Region Tournament. We beat Central Christian College on Thursday night:
We lost to Central Baptist on Friday night in the semi-final game. HOWEVER, we ended up getting an at large bid for the National Tournament (as did Central Baptist)! We would be the 5th seed, but they don't want us to play Central Baptist again in the first round, so we'll go in as the 6th seed and play Northwestern College out of Minnesota on Thursday in Oakland City, Indiana!
I don't know if you can see her, but Halle is on the opposite side of the court at the top of the bleachers- this was one of her favorite things (along with playing "concussion stand") to do every time we were at the gym for games or shoot arounds:
Cate turned 10 months old on Friday! She is such a big girl- here she is at (what else?) a ball game:Eating at the player's banquet on Friday morning:
We kept her busy shoveling Cheerios and bananas in her mouth so she wouldn't be loud while the speaker was giving the devotional!WORN OUT!
Halle on the way home:My parents made the trip to McPherson, and then they came on to our house on Saturday. Here is Halle telling (bossing) Cate, "ONLY ONE, CATE!":Not a great pic of Dad (sorry, Dad), but I LOVE this picture! These two were buddies this weekend (after Cate studiously ignored him for the first 5 minutes he was around.) She loved blowing spit bubbles at Papa:
